Carlene L. Rose

June 1, 1913 ~ February 3, 2013 (age 99)

   Mrs. Carlene L. Rose, 99, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 634 Country Club Heights, Quincy, died at  9:20 p.m. Sunday (February 3, 2013) in Good Samaritan Home.

   Born June 1, 1913 in Quincy, Carlene was the daughter of Carl and Lillian Meyer Brosi. She married Richard C. Rose on May 19, 1935 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on September 26, 1977.

   A member of St. Francis Solanus Church where she was active with the Tuesday Club and Ladies of St. Francis, Carlene was also a member of the Adams County Women's Republican Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the YWCA.  She was an accomplished artist, painting with watercolors.

   Carlene was a 1932 graduate of Quincy High School and she attended the Blessing Hospital  School of Nursing. She devoted her life to raising her family, but loved to help others by volunteering at Blessing Hospital for many years.

   Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Pihos (Dennis) of Hampshire, IL; two sons, Richard "Bud" Rose (Imogene) and William "Bill" Rose both of Quincy; Eight grandchildren, Alexander Rose (Amanda) of Springfield, IL , Sarah Rose of Belton, MO,  Diana Pihos of Chicago, IL, Christina Snyders (William) of Roselle, IL, Jennifer Roland (William) of Edwardsville, IL, Andrew Rose (Alisha) of Lake Elsinore, CA, Catherine Flint (Walter) of San Antonio, TX and Rhonda Gabriel (Jerry) of Springfield, MO; Seventeen   great grandchildren; Three great great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; two sisters, Elaine Harmon and Lucille Swaynie; and two brothers, Carl Brosi and Russell Brosi.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Mike Rickman.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home Activities Fund.
