Mrs Carol Hipkins, 77, of Coatsburg, Illinois, formerly of Quincy died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday (October 21, 2012) in her home.
Born January 16, 1935 in Quincy, she was the daughter of John and Bonnie McGraw Coyle.
She married Gary "Pappy" Hipkins on August 7, 1953 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2012.
Carol was a 1952 graduate of Quincy High School. She was a skilled seamstress who crotched, knitted and made clothes for her family. She also made stuffed animals, quilts and doilies. She enjoyed dancing, bowling and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her dog Mikey.
Carol was employed as a secretary and general manager at W.R. Meadows Company Inc. in Elgin, Il. When she moved to Quincy she worked as a secretary in the Adams County Assessors Office for many years until her retirement.
Survivors include two sons, G. Dean Hipkins (Darlene) of Mendon and L.Todd Hipkins (Jina) of Coatsburg; seven grandchildren, Hannah Hipkins of Coatsburg, Bonnie Peters (Chris), Jennifer Hipkins (Tim Blank), Tony Hipkins all of Genoa, Il, Jeremey Wallace, Patrick Wallace, Katherine "Katy" Veile all of Quincy and eleven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hipkins was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Linda Sue Wallace and a great grandson Anthony James Hipkins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Disseler officating.
Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
