CATHERINE F. DRUMMOND
Catherine F. Drummond, 88, of Quincy, died at 12:42 p.m. Saturday (November 11, 2017) in St. Vincent's Home.
Born February 11, 1929 in Quincy, Catherine was the daughter of John and Katherine Freiberg Broeker. She married Donald Gene Drummond on September 18, 1948 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1982.
Catherine was an active supporter of the Quincy Salvation Army where she was a loyal member of the Women's Ministry and a volunteer with the Salvation Army Food Basket Program each year. She enjoyed dancing, gardening and playing cards, especially Solitare.
Catherine was devoted to her family. She loved camping and fishing with her children and grandchildren and cherished every moment she would spend with them. She will be remembered for the many afghans she crocheted and gave to her family and friends.
A 1948 graduate of Quincy High School, Catherine was employed in the shipping department at Harris Corporation for over 20 years until her retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Fischer (David) of Quincy and Deborah K. Purdy (James) of Dawsonville, GA; a son, Ronald Drummond (Jennifer) of Cumming, GA; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Benson (Gregory), Douglas Purdy (Colleen), Pamela Purdy Zeman (Paul), Keith Fischer, Kristina Fischer, Kurtis Fischer (Ashley), Kate Bechmann (Kai), Jacklyn Hohmann (Thomas Luke) and Danyelle Drummond; nine great grandchildren, Elizabeth Oshner (Devin), Grace Purdy, Paige Purdy, Zachery Zeman, Andrew Zeman, Tyler Fischer, Tannor Fischer, Gabriella Fischer and Samuel Fischer; three great great grandchildren, Aliviya Oshner, Blake Oshner and Cora Oshner; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Gene; two brothers, Arthur Broeker and John Broeker; and a sister, Florence Attey.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Major Andy Miller and Captain Grace Roinila officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
