Charles P. Wolkitt

December 14, 1929 ~ March 11, 2016 (age 86)

   Charles P. Wolkitt, 86, of Quincy, died at 10:00 p.m. Friday (March 11, 2016) in Sunset Home.

   Born December 14, 1929 in Quincy, Charles was the son of Charles M. and Elsie Stark Wolkitt.  He married Norma Hagar in Ewing, Missouri on May 14, 1949.  She preceded him in death on November 16, 2015.

   Charles and his wife Norma enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting and camping.

   Mr. Wolkitt was employed as a machine tender at Celotex for 41 years until his retirement in 1992.

   Survivors include a son, Rodney Wolkitt (Jo Ann) of Quincy; two daughters, Paula Bowen (Michael) of Quincy and Sheila Hodges (David) of Plymouth, MN; six grandchildren, Joseph Wolkitt (Tonya), Danielle Mullet (Frank), Amy Jonsson (Greg), Tod Bowen (Nikki), Tara Rossato (Gus) and Robin Rea; twelve great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.  Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Wolkitt was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma; a son, Gary Wolkitt; a brother, Jack Wolkitt; and a sister, Betty Unmisig.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Monsignor Michael Kuse officiating.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

   Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Thursday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to Sunset Home.
