CHARLOTTE JO PALMER
Charlotte Jo Palmer, 77, of Urbana, Illinois, formerly of Quincy, died at 3:53 p.m. Saturday (June 21, 2014) in the Champaign County Nursing Home in Urbana, Illinois.
Born April 13, 1937 in Quincy, Charlotte was the daughter of Voyd K. and Joye F. Oitker Neece. She married Thomas "Tom" Palmer on March 16, 1957 in Lincoln, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 2006.
Charlotte enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and basketball in her youth and was an avid fan of the University of Illinois Basketball Team. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to her family and will be remembered for her love of practical jokes. Charlottes one big adventure in life was taking off to Florida with her sister.
A 1955 graduate of Liberty High School, Charlotte also attended Lincoln Christian College for two years. She had worked as an activity director for a nursing home and a floral designer in a floral shop. She was last employed as a cook at Lincoln Christian College where she was manager of the Snack Bar and helped to cater many other college events until her retirement. Charlotte loved her time at the college and especially enjoyed being around the young adults who attended there.
Survivors include four children, Joe Palmer of Champaign, IL, Jim Palmer (Lori) of White Heath, IL, Jeremy Palmer Sr. (Joyce) of Quincy and Janet Lynn Brown of Kendleton, TX; twelve grandchildren, Jesse Martin (Crystal), Christa Martin, Jenna Palmer, Jeremy Palmer Jr., Quinten Palmer, Madison Palmer, Jayden Palmer, Dylan Palmer, Shala Hyde, Alix Van der Maiden, Shelby Alger and Joseph Alger; five great grandchildren, Jana Cooney, Braxton Cooney, Walter Martin, Zola Palmer and Matthew Martin; a brother, Kieth Neece (Donna) of Quincy; two sisters, Mona Kistner of Quincy and Christie Cogburn (Don) of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by her parents; a sister in law, Marilyn Neece; and a brother in law, Ronald Kistner.
Mrs. Palmer was cremated. Memorial graveside services will be held Monday morning (July 7, 2014) at 11:00 in Greenmount Cemetery by Pastor Larry Wentzel.
There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside service.
