CONNIE SUE POWELL
Connie Sue Powell, 75, of Littleton, Illinois, went home to her heavenly Father on Tuesday (August 21, 2018) at 6:45 p.m.
Born August 14, 1943 in Quincy, Connie was the daughter of Clarence W. "Buss" and Bessie Irene Osborne Conners Sr. She married Douglas J. Powell on May 21, 1966 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2003.
Connie loved the outdoors. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and loved traveling throughout the United States. She was an avid reader, loved to go shopping, enjoyed listening to country music and was a True Blue Cubs Fan. Connie always had a soft spot in her heart for her pets she had over the years.
Connie had a heart for helping others and worked as a team leader with the developmentally disabled at Quincy Terrace and later at Maple Terrace.
Connie will be remembered as a wonderful mom, grandma and great grandma who was devoted to her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Mitzie Pullman (Wayne) of Quincy and Angela Hale (John) of Littleton, IL; two sons, Douglas Powell (Sandy) of Quincy and Mike Powell of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Atkinson (Chris), Lucas Powell (Natalie), Susan Meyer (Matt), Sarah Powell, Stephanie Johnson (Jacob), Devon Powell, Cory Powell and Kaiya Ahern and the many others who called her "grandma"; eight great grandchildren, Oliver Atkinson, Conner Atkinson, Gavin Powell, Mason Powell, Hadley Meyer, Joseph Johnson, Joshua Johnson and Paisley Powell; two brothers, Clarence "Butch" Conners Jr. (Barb) of FL and David Conners (Kay) of Pleasant Hill, IL; three sisters, Joann Durbin of Quincy, Phyllis Schaefer of Quincy and Pam Uppinghouse of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Douglas; a daughter, Becky Powell; a grandson, Shawn Pullman; and a sister, Donna "Toni" Leindecker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Keck officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
