DAVID K. SPARKS
Mr. David K. Sparks, 61, of 327 Elm, Quincy, died at 5:42 a.m. Friday (February 24, 2012) his home.
Born November 20, 1950 in Quincy, David was the son of Kenneth D. and Phyllis J. Wood Sparks. He married Connie L. Hollon on October 29, 1985 in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives.
Mr. Sparks was active in Adams County Democratic Politics, serving on the Adams County Board from December 1980 to January 1999. Dave loved buying, selling and trading antiques and collecting Quincy memorabilia and turned his passion into a business, owning and operating Gem City Antique Mall in Quincy.
Mr. Sparks was employed as a Waste Water Lab Technician for the City of Quincy from 1973 until his retirement in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; a son, David K. Sparks II of Quincy; his mother, Phyllis J. Sparks of Quincy; a brother, Gary Sparks (Sherry) of Fowler, IL; sister in law Rita Sparks; two nephews Robert and Richard Sparks of Quincy; two nieces Rochelle Sparks of Quincy and Lisa Marie Sparks of Fowler and several cousins.
Mr. Sparks was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Cheryl Kay Lummer; and a brother, Ronald Sparks.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39 will conduct masonic services Monday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home.
Prayer services will be Tuesday morning at 10:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with a graveside service at 10:30 in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Tom Fox.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the David Sparks Memorial Fund.
