DAVID  W.  PIPER

   David W. Piper, 87, of Quincy, died at 12:17 a.m. Saturday (April 30, 2016) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born December 6, 1928 in Hannibal, Missouri, David was the son of Robley F. and Jennie Briggs Piper.  He married Betty Jean Gieselman on March 15, 1952 in Palmyra, Missouri.  She survives.

   Mr. Piper served his country as a Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force.

   David was active with the Mississippi Valley Hunter and Fisherman's Club, South Side Boat Club, Liberty American Legion and the Quarter Century Club at Gardner Denver. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved being on the river. He enjoyed trap shooting, reading, cooking and loved being outdoors feeding the birds and tending to his garden.

   David was employed for 40 years at Gardner Denver Company, retiring as a foreman.

   Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Jean; a son, David Piper of Quincy; two brothers, Richard Piper (June Ann) of Hannibal, MO and Pete Piper (Shirley) of Hannibal, MO; four sisters, Ada Zupan (John) of Hannibal, MO, Grace Ann Genovese of Hannibal, MO, Pearl Davis (Jeff) of New London, MO and Debbie Schindler (Francis) of New London, MO; two sisters in law, Darlene Gieselman of Quincy and Marian Piper of Van Buren, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Piper was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darin W. Piper; two brothers, Wayne Piper (Judy) and Robley "Buzz" Piper Jr.; a sister, Virginia Harsell (Jack); and two brothers in law, Kenneth Gieselman and Frank Genovese.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Steve Disseler.  Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 and the Scott Air Force Base Funeral Honors Detail will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center.
