DELBERT "DEAN" PALMER
Mr. Delbert "Dean" Palmer, 87, of Loraine died at 6:00 a.m. Sunday (April 7, 2013) in his home.
Born April 19, 1925 in Kahoka, Missouri, Dean was the son of Carl and Bertha Hammond Palmer. He married Doloris Ann Kline on December 3, 1949 in Pickett, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2008.
Dean liked to spend time with his friends and family, watch TV and loved to read the newspaper. He enjoyed bird watching, woodworking, decorating for all the holidays and especially loved his two little dogs Sam and Lucky.
He was employed as a custodian and school bus driver for the Unit Four School District in Mendon for 14 years until his retirement in 1991.
Survivors include nine children, Priscilla Murphy and her husband Dan of Cincinnati, OH., Linda Kramer and her husband Dean of Quincy, IL., Delbert Lee Palmer of Quincy, IL, Richard Palmer of Mendon, IL., Jimmy Palmer and his wife Donna of Quincy, IL., John Palmer of Loraine, IL., Dannie Joe Palmer and his wife Amy of Mendon, IL., David Palmer of Loraine, IL. and Becky Markey (Lance) of Carthage, IL.; thirteen grandchildren, Troy Murphy of Milwaukee, WI, Tony Murphy of Rockford, IL., Dr. Terry Murphy of Cincinnati, OH., Billy Cunningham of Indianapolis, IN., Amanda Demien of Jacksonville, IL., Jimmy Dean Palmer of Quincy, IL., Matt Palmer of Ewing, MO., Jonathan Dillinger of Quincy, IL., Jessica Howard of Quincy, IL., Brittney Palmer of Quincy, IL, Abbygail Palmer of Loraine, IL., Joshua Palmer of Mendon, IL. and Jessie Palmer of Anchorage, AK; thirteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister Betty Frisbie of Colchester, IL. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his parents; two great grandsons, Tad Murphy and McKenzie Murphy; a step brother, Bobby VonArx; a sister Norma Jean Myers and a nephew, Virgil Myers.
Memorials services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Gartung officating. Inurnment will be in the Loraine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 at the funeral home.
