   Dennis Hiatt, 64, of Quincy, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday (June 6, 2015) in his home.

   Born October 7, 1950 in Keokuk, Iowa, Dennis was the son of Charles and Patricia Lones Hiatt.  He married Susan Hagmeier on October 14, 1973 in Keokuk, Iowa.  She survives.

  Dennis enjoyed playing cards, attending auctions, reading, watching the Three Stooges, candle making and woodworking.  Many of his woodworking projects have become permanent fixtures at St. John's Cathedral.  He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone. Dennis also loved helping others and was active in Homeward Bound Waggin' , and delivering Meals on Wheels. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and a die hard Cubs fan.
    Dennis was a 1969 graduate of Keokuk High School and attended Southeastern College. He later served his country in the United States Navy.  Following his discharge, he went to Technical School to study refrigeration and was employed for many years at Die Makers, Inc.  

   Survivors include his wife, Susan; his son, Michl Hiatt of Quincy; his mother, Patricia Hiatt of Keokuk, IA; his sister, Carol Ann Gates (Steven) of Keokuk, IA; many loving nieces and nephews, and his loving, faithful companions, Fritz and Reefur.

   Mr. Hiatt was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hiatt; a sister in infancy, Susan Hiatt; his mother and father in law, Dorothy and William Hagmeier; and a brother in law, David Hagmeier.  

   Cremation was accorded to Mr. Hiatt by the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.  

   Memorial Mass services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 at St. John's Cathedral by Bishop Stephen Strawn.  Inurnment will be in the St. John's Cathedral All Souls Chapel Columbarium.

   Memorials may be made to the Quincy Public Library, St. John's Cathedral or Homeward Bound Waggin' in care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State Street, Quincy, IL 62301.
