DIXIE L. VANCAMP
Dixie Lea VanCamp, 74, of Quincy, died at 10:44 p.m. Sunday (June 21, 2015) in her home.
Born January 24, 1941 in Quincy, Dixie was the daughter of Bryce D. and Bernice Scott Wasson. She met Richard A. "Dick" VanCamp while in Junior High School and they began dating when they were 13 years old. She married the love of her life on August 22, 1959 in Salem Church and she and Dick celebrated 55 years of marriage. Dick survives.
An avid reader, Dixie also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and "her politics". She was devoted to her family and especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dixie was employed for many years in the Advertising Department at the Quincy Herald Whig and later she was a Secretary and Realtor for Davis & Frese Real Estate. She later stayed at home and devoted her time to care for her husband.
Survivors include her husband, Dick; two children, Jeff VanCamp (Dawn) of Quincy and Jill Foley of Quincy; six grandchildren, Brandon VanCamp (Ashley Reese), Ashley Ray (J.D.), Brooke Blackburn (Adam), Erin Spidle (Rob), Jacob Foley (Courtney Heberlein) and Adam Foley; six great grandchildren, Jack Ray, Charles Ray, Ella Ray,Audra Blackburn, Silas Spidle and Declan Spidle; and several Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
