DONALD C. VONHOLT
Donald C. VonHolt, 81, of Quincy, died at 8:08 a.m. Sunday (September 21, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.
Born August 28, 1933 in Quincy, Don was the son of Clyde and Lucille Hultz VonHolt.
A 1952 graduate of Quincy High School, Don attended Quincy College and earned his Bachelor's Degree at Western Illinois University in 1960.
Mr. VonHolt served his country in the U.S. Army Security Agency from 1953 to 1956.
Don spent 12 years teaching history, mostly in Junior High Schools in Macomb, Quincy and Green Valley. Before his retirement in 1997, he was employed by D.H. Rouse Roofing where he was a foreman for several years.
Don was a bachelor who enjoyed playing tennis, particularly doubles. He spent much of his time helping neighborhood boys build ramps and repairing skateboards, bicycles and scooters. Don enjoyed teaching the boys how to use the tools needed in the building and repair.
Survivors include a brother, James VonHolt of Quincy; a sister, Wanita Eberhardt and her husband, William of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. VonHolt was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Dick VonHolt and Larry VonHolt.
Mr. VonHolt requested to be cremated. No services will be held.
