Doris Dafferner, 90, of Quincy, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday (April 12, 2016) in Good Samaritan Home.
Born October 18, 1925 in St. Louis, Missouri, Doris was the daughter of Jack McKenna and Helen Charbulak McKenna. She married Darvin Dafferner on December 24, 1943 in Couer D'Alene, Idaho. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2013.
Doris enjoyed crocheting, tending to her orchids, and in her early years playing golf. She was devoted to her family and cherished the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren.
Doris was employed as a secretary at Merkel's Sporting Goods Store and later for Dr. Reed until her retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Shull (Dennis ) of Quincy; two sons, Mike Dafferner (Carol) of The Woodlands, TX and Bradley Dafferner of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Brian Dafferner (Joy), Alec Dafferner (Libby), Stacy Shull Gustafson (Craig), Nathan Shull, Michael Shull, and Devon Shull Kaufmann (Tyler); eleven great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darvin; and two sisters, Marie "Bobbie" Fry and Rose Olson.
Cremation rites have been accorded to Mrs. Dafferner. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
