DORIS EILEEN MILES
Mrs. Doris Eileen Miles, 80, of 2000 Sycamore, Quincy, died at 2:00 p.m. Thursday (December 1, 2011) in the Good Samaritan Home.
Born March 8, 1931 in Quincy, Doris was the daughter of Elmon "Bill" and Rose Hultz Bowen. She married James Ellis Miles on February 2, 1952 in Oceanside, California. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2007.
Doris was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, active with AWANA'S and helped with many funeral dinners. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and bowler and cherished the time she spent with her family, especially on the many family vacations they took over the years.
A graduate of Golden High School, Doris was employed at Motorola and later as a school bus driver before becoming a bus driver for the City of Quincy until her retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Penny Ellen Bockenfeld and her husband Greg of Quincy; three sons, Matt Elmon Miles and his wife Sherry of Quincy, Marty Ellis Miles and his wife Diana of Payson, IL and James Kipp Miles and his wife Bonnie of Deltona, FL; eight grandchildren, Travis Bockenfeld (Jamie), Heather Ellixson (Joe), Tracy Ludwig (Dan), Amanda Window (Ryan), Matina McClelland (Eric), Samantha Miles, Troy Platt and Paula Sue Lindquist; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother, Elmon "Bud" Bowen and his wife Pat of Vacaville, CA; two sisters, Mary Eicken and her husband Dale of Chandler, AZ and Alice Greene and her husband John of Eldridge, IA; two brothers in law, Oscar Miles of Quincy and Timothy Miles and his wife Donna of Northbrook, IL; four sisters in law, Vivian Miles, Mary Miles and Jeanne Miles all of Quincy, Clara Bollin and her husband Leo of Nauvoo, IL and Leandra Samuel and her husband Michael of Naperville, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; three brothers, Glen Bowen, Homer Bowen and Bob Bowen; three brothers in law, Paul Miles, Oliver Miles and Carroll Miles; and three sisters in law, Mardelle Miles, Rosemary Aspeotis and Wanda Dicks.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in Lighthouse Baptist Church by Pastor Tim Dougherty. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will beMonday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at Lighthouse Baptist Church.
