Doris Jean Hackett

May 19, 1928 ~ October 19, 2016 (age 88)

   Doris Jean Hackett, 88, of Quincy died at 3:32 p.m. Wednesday (October 19, 2016) in Blessing Hospital.

   Doris Jean was born on May 19, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Keith and Dorothea McCarty. She married Theodore Hackett in June of 1969 in Detroit and he preceded her in death in 2006.

   Doris Jean was a 1946 graduate of Quincy High School.  She was a member of the North Hills Historic Automobile Club, Hiking Club and Bridge Club in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.  Doris Jean enjoyed refinishing furniture, knitting, crocheting, gardening, traveling and simply loved life.  She had a love for dogs, was a Schipperke breeder and had Shetland Sheepdogs.

   Doris Jean had been employed as a Claims Clerk with Hartford Steamboiler.  Upon her marriage to Theodore, she became a wonderful wife and homemaker.

   Survivors include a step son, David Hackett (Kathy) of Cape Fair, MO; a step daughter, Frances Eck (Alan) of Springfield, VA; four step grandchildren, Rick Hackett (Alisa), Kate Hronek (Brett), Brian Eck and Keith Eck (Melissa); five step great grandchildren, Lucy, June, Sawyer, Hayley and Emily; a loving sister-in-law and niece; and many loving friends.

   Mrs. Hackett was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Theodore; one daughter, Nannette "Muffy" Nice; and a brother, Neil Hudson.

   Cremation has been accorded to Mrs. Hackett.  A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Friday morning (November 4, 2016) at 10:00 in the Good Samaritan Home Chapel with Chaplain James Riley officiating.  Private burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Clarence, Missouri.

   Visitation will be held Friday morning (November 4, 2016) from 9:00 until the time of services in the Good Samaritan Home Chapel.
   Arrangements are in the care of Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
