DOROTHY "DOT" WINKING
Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Winking, 89, of Monroe City, Missouri, formerly of Quincy, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday (October 31, 2015) in Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Born September 7, 1926 in Fountain Green, Illinois, Dorothy was the daughter of Jerry S. and Gladys Mae Parsons Carle. She married Thomas J. "Tom" Winking on November 3, 1956 in St. Boniface Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2008.
Dot had been an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church where she loved attending the children's Mass. She was also a former member of Cedar Crest Country Club.
Dot was employed at Motorola in Quincy. When she and Tom started their family, Dot devoted her life to raising her children. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Winking of Springfield, IL and Tom Winking (Susan) of Monroe City, MO; three grandchildren, Nikki Shelton (Jacy) of Carthage, IL, Lauren Watson (John) of Monroe City, MO and Kelly Winking of Monroe City, MO; eight great grandchildren, Bailey Straube, Sean Justus, Emilee Hamilton, Jessa Shelton, Jerres Shelton, Jennah Shelton, Grant Watson and Maggie Watson; two brothers, Arthur Carle of Oquawka, IL and Jack Carle (Shirley) of Macomb, IL; a sister, Maxine Johnson of Carthage, IL; a brother in law, Ted Winking of Macomb, IL; two sisters in law, Christine Carle of Webster, IL and Charlene Winking of Good Hope, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Winking was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom; a grandson, Andrew Winking; two brothers, Gene Carle and Harvey Carle; and a sister, Juanita Manley.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. James Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home. A wake service will be held Monday afternoon at 3:30 at the funeral home.
