Eda McClean, formerly of Quincy, died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday (November 11, 2017) at the home of her grandson, Allen, in Goodfield, Illinois.
Born May 4, 1919 in Loraine, Illinois, Eda was the daughter of Lee and Gertrude Turnhoffer Nelson. She married Robert McClean on August 4, 1940 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2001.
Eda was a longtime member of Union United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and loved collecting Antiques.
Eda was employed at Motorola and later for many years as a Sales Clerk at J. C. Penny until her retirement.
Survivors include her grandson and caregiver, M. Allen McClean (Joan) of Goodfield, IL; great grandchildren, Rachelle, Kaitlyn, Nicole, and Allen McClean; a son, Terrence Lee McClean (Cindy) of Florida; grandchildren, Tony McClean, Matthew McClean and Jamie Opitz; great grandchildren include, Brett, Brianna, and Matthias Opitz, and Aiden and Annalise McClean.
Eda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; a son, Michael Allen McClean; a brother, Arvid Nelson; and two sisters, Marian Bergstrasser and Faye Schwartz.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday (November 22, 2017) at 2:15 p.m. in Quincy Memorial Park with Pastor Carol Stufflebeam officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday (November 22, 2017) from 1:00 to 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy.
