ELIZABETH GERALDINE HEIDLOFF
Mrs. Elizabeth "Liz" Heidloff. 92, of Byron Center, Michigan, formerly of Quincy died at 11:42 p.m. Sunday (August 5, 2012) at the Railside Living Center in Byron Center, Michigan.
Born January 31, 1920 in Quincy, Liz was the daughter of Emil and Gertrude Knuffman Pfaffe. She married Wilbur "Joe" Heidloff on September 19, 1946 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2011.
Liz was a member of Luther Memorial Church in Quincy and an adopted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, MI. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed playing golf, cross-stitching, bird watching and star gazing. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Heidloff was employed at HRH Hosiery Mill in Quincy for 22 years. In 1964 she graduated from the Quincy Beauty Academy and operated a beauty shop in her home for 10 years. She was then employed at Quincy Senior High School before her retirement in 1984..
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Zientarski of Alto, MI; a grandson, Nicholas Zientarski of Grand Haven, MI; a special niece, Anne Strode of Quincy. Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Heidloff was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Emil Pfaffe, Herman Pfaffe, Fred Pfaffe, Oliver Pfaffe and William Schweitzer; eleven sisters, Annabelle Wilkes, Emma Westbrook, Hattie Slater, Mildred Miles, Wilhelmina Williams, Gertrude Luecken, Caroline Stice, Lily, Grace, Adeline and Mary in infancy.
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Vincent's Home and Carelinc in Quincy and especially Spectrum Health Hospice of Grand Rapids and the Memory Loss Unit at Railside Living Center in Byron Center, MI, who so lovingly cared for Liz as if she were family.
Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in Greenmount Cemetery with Pastor Tony Metz officiating.
There will be no visitation but family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service.
Memorial may be made to Luther Memorial Church or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
