EMMA RUTH HOGGE
Emma Ruth Hogge, 91, of Quincy,formerly of Maywood, Missouri, passed away at 7:35 am Sunday (April 1, 2018) in Good Samaritan Home.
Born May 25, 1926 in Clayton, Illinois, Ruth was the daughter of Elmer Lynn Sr. and Emma Hogan Frankel. She married James Hogge on September 5, 1945 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2005.
Ruth was a 1944 graduate of Liberty High School. She was a past member of the Marion County R II PTA, the Marion County Cancer Society, the Neighborhood Watch Program and the V.F.W. Auxiliary No. 5129. She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards, doing yard sales and loved being outdoors. She also volunteered for several years at the Illinois Veterans Home Museum.
Ruth was first employed at Harris Corporation in the Order Entry Department and then worked at St. Mary Hospital in the Medical Records Department for 15 years until her retirement.
Survivors include a son, James Hogge (Pamela) of Chatham, IL; a daughter, Nadine McKinney (Bill) of Paris, MO; six grandchildren, Randy McKinney (Chris Scott) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brent McKinney (Cindy) of Riverton, IL, James Hogge (Suzanne) of Chatham, IL, Jamie Davis (Roger) of Sherman, IL, Elizabeth Hogge (Neil Skillman) of Oswego, IL and Lynn Hogge of Quincy, IL; nine great grandchildren, Roger, Emma and Ryan Davis, Alyssa and Alex Hogge, Hailey Hogge, Brooke and Lily McKinney, Addilyn Skillman; one sister, Shirley Gregory (John) of Silver Springs MD; and a sister in law, Mildred Frankel of Quincy.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; a brother, Elmer Frankel Jr.; a sister and brother in-law Esther and William Fries.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veterans Home.
Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Macular Degeneration or to the Alzheimer's Association.
