ERMAL H. "SWEET" BRIDGE
Mrs. Ermal H. "Sweet" Bridge, 99, a longtime resident of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Hamilton, Illinois, died at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday (April 11, 2012) in Good Samaritan Home.
Born July 4, 1912 in Kellerville, Illinois, Ermal was the daughter of Oscar and Carrie Mae Padgett Arntzen. She married John Alfred "Turk" Bridge on April 16, 1932 in New London, Missouri. Ermal spent many years lovingly caring for her husband when he became sick until his death on March 13, 1975.
Ermal was a member of First Christian Church where she had been active with the Carley Sunday School Class. She enjoyed flower gardening and loved helping others by volunteering at Good Samaritan Home and was a member of the Good Samaritan Home Auxiliary and the Sunshine Class.
A graduate of Hull High School, Ermal was employed at the Hamilton Press and later at The Vogue clothing store in Keokuk.
Survivors include a daughter, Pixie Sharkey of Williamsville, N. Y.; three grandchildren, Dawn Mack (Jim) of Lockport, N.Y., Cindy Kennealy (Steve) of East Taunton, MA and Jennifer Sharkey of Rochester, MI; five great grandchildren, Ryan Mack and Kelsy Mack of Lockport, N.Y., Courtney Thibeault, Corinne Kennealy and Brenna Kennealy all of East Taunton, MA; and her loving cousin, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bridge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John "Turk"; two brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in the Good Samaritan Home Chapel by Pastor Mike Duffy. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at Good Samaritan Home Chapel.
The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
