FRANCES "FRAN" LUCIE

    Frances "Fran" Lucie, 91 of Quincy passed away at 10:20 pm Thursday (May 10, 2018) in Good Samaritan Home. 
    Born August 13, 1926 in Quincy, Fran was the daughter of Frank and Alvera S. Winking Hessling.
She was first married Wayne Brinkley on August 13, 1943 in Quincy. He preceded her in death in 1976. She later married Darrell M. Lucie on May 30, 1990 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on October 1, 1994.
     Fran was an active member of Madison Park Christian Church where she helped with funeral luncheons for many years and was a member of the of the Bible Study group, Senior Sunshine Group and the Everready Group.  Her passion was writing poems and family stories, some of which was published in newsletters at the church. She also wrote the words for "The Quincy Song" for the Miss Quincy Pageant. Fran was also a member of the Quincy Women's Business Club, the Altrusa Club and the Sales and Marketing Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her card group. Fran was a wonderful wife and mother who was devoted to her family 
     She had been employed at Quincy Speaker for 17 years and later worked at Dame and Hurdle for 22 years until her retirement in December of 1990. During her retirement, she volunteered at Blessing Hospital making bears for the children. She also served as a tutor and mentor for the 2nd grade children at Washington School for 9 years.  
     Survivors include three sons, Wayne Brinkley (Phyllis) and Mark Brinkley both of Quincy and David Brinkley of Highland, NY; four daughters, Sue Rodrigues (Bill) of Ocala, FL, Lynn Wienhoff (Jerry) of Pensacola, FL, Rebecca Brinkley of Jefferson City, MO and Jill Trenter (Jeff) of Quincy; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two step-daughters; Sandra Archibald (John) of Weatherford, TX and Barbara Lunt (Terry) of Fort Wayne, IN; a daughter-in-law, Maryann Brinkley of Hillsboro, OR; and two brothers, Tom Hessling and Richard Hessling both of Quincy. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. 
     Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Wayne and Darrell; a son, Dan Brinkley; two sisters, Dolores Mackay and Phyllis Hessling; five brothers, Theodore, Donald, Robert and James Hessling and an infant brother Joseph Hessling; and two sisters-in-law, Audrey and Betty Hessling.  
     Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Sackett officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. 
     Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.   
     Memorials may be made to the Madison Park Christian Church or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. 
     Arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
