Geneva "Jean" (Hensley) Jarvis

June 3, 1931 ~ December 22, 2018 (age 87)

JEAN  JARVIS

   Geneva "Jean" Jarvis, 87, formerly of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away at 11:07 a.m. Saturday (December 22, 2018) at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy.

   Born June 3, 1931 in Furnace, Kentucky, Jean was the daughter of Claude and Grace Tipton Hensley.  She married LeRoy F. Jarvis on February 5, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on January 13, 2017.

   Jean cherished the time she shared with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called her "Donie".  She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed antiquing and tending to her garden.

   Jean was employed for over 35 years as a cook at two Northern Illinois Hospitals, retiring after 20 years from the Glen Oaks Medical Center.

   Survivors include three children, Wilma Piper of Macomb, IL, Daniel Nolan of Donnellson, IA and Diana Pszotka of Carol Stream, IL; eleven grandchildren and their spouses;  twenty three great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.  Jean was the eldest of six children and is survived by her brother, Billy E. Hensley of Rockford, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy; a daughter in infancy, Dawn Leigh Jarvis; and four siblings.

   Arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy.

   Funeral services will be held Monday (January 14, 2019) at 2:00 in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois  Veterans Home by Chaplain David Hall.

   Visitation will be held Monday (January 14, 2019) from 1:00 until the time of services at the All Faiths Chapel.

   Jean will return to North Lake, Illinois to be laid to rest with her husband on Tuesday afternoon (January 15, 2019) at 1:00 at the Fairview Memorial Park in North Lake.

   Memorials may be made to the IVH Activity Fund.
