Imogene Winters, 90, of Quincy, died at 8:00 pm Sunday (October 1, 2017) in her home.
Born June 2, 1927 in Quincy, Imogene was the youngest and last surviving child of 16 children to Charles and Eva M. Seward Crossan. She married Kenneth J. Arrowsmith and to that union came two children, Kenneth M. Arrowsmith and Roger K. Arrowsmith. Kenneth was killed in action during WW II. She married Wiliam E. "Bill" Winters on December 31, 1945 and to that union came four children, Wilma E. Winters, Linda J. Liston, David E. Winters and Pamela R. Todd. Bill survives.
Imogene was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church, the Illinois Police Association and the Marine Corps Women's League. She was an avid reader, enjoyed writing poetry, solving puzzles, being on social media on her I Pad, crocheting and sewing, making many of her own clothes, and was an accomplished target shooter, winning awards at many competitions.
Imogene was employed for many years as a bookkeeper and dispatcher for the Adams County Sheriff's Department and then as a dispatcher for the Quincy Police Department.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Bill; two daughters, Linda J. Liston (Joe) of Quincy and Pamela R. Todd (Timothy) of Quincy; ten grandchildren. Penny Arrowsmith, James K. Arrowsmith, Todd W. Winters (Becky), Lisa L. Boren (Randy), Brandon R. Eger (Lori), Jeannie R. Eger, Jolene E. Liston, Jacqueline S. Gsell (Ernie), Michael Winters (Amy) and Stephen Winters; twenty five great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Kenneth; three sons, Kenneth M. Arrowsmith, Roger K. Arrowsmith and David E. Winters; a daughter, Wilma E. Winters; a granddaughter, Laura Logan; and a great granddaughter, Amber Mason.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Rev. V. Lee Amsler, Rev. Larry Connour and Rev. Dr. Timothy Todd officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.
