IVA C. SMITH
Iva C. Smith, 86, of Quincy, died at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday (May 27, 2015) in Blessing Hospital.
Born January 12, 1929 in Tuscumbia, Alabama, Iva was the daughter of Joseph W. and Mary Etta McIntyre Yost. She married James L. Smith on February 8, 1949 in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2007.
Iva attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, sewing and quilting, but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Iva had been employed by Pipe Sitter Service and later was a domestic housekeeper for many years until her retirement in 2004.
Survivors include her son, James W. Smith (Linda) of Locust Fork, AL; her daughter, Marilyn Greaney (Dennis) of Wildwood, MO; four grandchildren, James. T. Smith (Angela) of Robuck, AL, Christy Lee Smith of Gardendale, AL, William J. Smith (Tracey) of Gardendale, AL and Grayson W. Smith of St. Louis, MO; seven great grandchildren, Sharon Smith, Virginia "Hope" Smith, Samuel Smith, Bradlon Stevens, Dylan Smith, Riley Smith and Emma Smith; one sister, Ruth Cataldo of Irondale, AL; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Iva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; her brother, Joseph Yost; and a sister, Ruby Gregory.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Monsignor Michael Kuse. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday morning from 8:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.
