   Jack D. Watkins, 81, of Quincy, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday (December 11, 2016) in his home.

   Born April 18, 1935 in Quincy, Jack was the son of D. R. and Myrtle Oberdahlhoff Watkins. He married Jody Robertson on September 25, 1955 in Quincy.  She survives.

   Jack was a member of Madison Park Christian Church, Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39, Quincy Consistory, Ansar Shrine Temple of Springfield, Quincy Shrine Club, Quincy Elks Lodge No. 100 and Ducks Unlimited.  An avid sportsman, Jack loved to hunt, fish, play golf and watching his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals.  He also enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino with Jody.    

   Mr. Watkins joined his family business,  Watkins Meat Sales, at an early age. In 1969 he purchased the business which he operated for several years. He also was a partner in Great River Meat Sales in Quincy and Pittsfield, later becoming the owner and merging the business with Watkins Meat Sales at 12th & Washington.  Jack passed the business to his son Jeffrey when he retired in 1990 and Jeff continued until he sold to his cousin, Dan Veihl in 2009.

   Survivors include his wife, Jody;  a daughter, Jennifer Drummond (Ron) of Cumming, GA; two granddaughters, Jacklyn Hohmann (Luke) and Danyelle Drummond both of Cumming, GA; three sisters, Judy Veihl (Mike) of Quincy, Jill Cobb (Phil) of Quincy and Jann Harris (Lee) of Quincy; a brother, Bill Watkins (Marcia) of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Jeffrey D. Watkins.

   Masonic services by Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39 will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Thursday immediately following the Masonic Service with Pastor Keith Ehresman officiating.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 12:30 until the time of services at 2:00 at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Madison Park Christian Church or the Shriner's Childrens Hospital.
