JACOB LEE "JAKE" SCRANTON
Jacob Lee "Jake" Scranton, 20, of Quincy died at 4:42 a.m. Saturday (June 30, 2012) in Blessing Hospital.
Born August 19, 1991 in Quincy, Jake was the son of Tim Scranton and Anita Vail Pfeifer.
Jake was a 2009 graduate of Quincy High School and received his associate degree from Mineral Area Community College in Park Hills, MO in 2011. He was on the Quincy High School Precision Shooting Rifle Team winning many first place ribbons. He also participated in the National Shooting Championship Contest in Ohio. He was a member of ther National Rifle Association and enjoyed trap shooting, riding his motorcycle and hanging out with his friends. He also enjoyed doing photography especially taking pictures of sunsets.
After graduating from college Jake was employed as a certified welder at Koenig Machine and Welding Inc. in Quincy.
Survivors include his father Tim Scranton (Elaine) of Liberty; his mother Anita Pfeifer (Tom) of Quincy; two brothers Joshua R. Scranton (Sacha) of Quincy and Brandon P. Scranton of Quincy; one step brother Michael Huston (Whitney) of Barry, IL, a step sister Amber Huston of Quincy; one nephew Klayton Scranton of Quincy; his maternal grandmother Carolyn Riley of Taylor, MO; two aunts Sonya Lenz (Paul) of Quincy, Susie Kill (Alan) of St. Peters, MO; one uncle Rick Scranton of Westport, IN; eight cousins Jordan Lenz of Quincy, Lucas Kill, Lindsay Kill and Sydney Kill all of St. Peters, MO, Samantha Scranton and Cheyenne Scranton both of Westport, IN, Brittany Wellman of Louisville, KY and Dusty Bergstrom of Olney, IL. Also surviving are several great aunts, uncles, and many other cousins.
Jake was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Richard and Carole Scranton and his maternal grandfather Lloyd Riley.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy with Pastor Scott Mickkelson officiating. Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery in Burton, IL.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
