JAMES "JIMMY" R. GODSEY
James "Jimmy" R. Godsey, 60, of Quincy died Saturday (September 30, 2017) in his home.
Born January 11, 1957 in Sherman, Texas, Jimmy was the son of James Alfred "Al" and (Jane Rochester Godsey.)
Mr. Godsey proudly served his country in the United States Army for eight years in Germany.
Jimmy was employed at Titan Wheel.
Jimmy loved riding his 2001 Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide motorcycle. He also enjoyed listening to music. Jimmy appreciated his many friends, family members and coworkers, but his real passion was helping other people, especially other veterans.
Survivors include a sister Linda Godsey of Quincy; two nephews Brent Korman (Shelby) of Quincy, Jade Korman and Hunter Korman. Keith Stewart (Anna) and Parker Stewart both of Springfield. Three daughters, Christina Kramer, JoAnna Godsey both of Olympia, WA and Stephanie Godsey (Stationed in San Angelo, TX United States Air Force); and a granddaughter Evelyn Godsey.
Mr. Godsey was preceded in death by his mother Jean Whitfield Stringer (Roy Stringer).
Military Honors by the Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Great River Honor Flight.
