JAMES D. PERRY
James D. Perry, 86, of Quincy, died at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday (June 10, 2015) in Good Samaritan Home.
Born June 27, 1928 in Quincy, Jim was the son of James Harvey and Gladys Louise Goodwin Perry. He married Betty Jean Huston on February 16, 1948 in Quincy. She survives.
Jim was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bodley Masonic Lodge No. 1, Quincy Consistory, Gardner Denver Quarter Century Club and the Machinist Local 822. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed woodworking, playing cards with his family and friends and reading and studying Civil War History. For over 40 years, Jim bred and raised pigeons, winning numerous awards at Pigeon Shows throughout the country.
Jim was employed for 40 years as a machinist at Gardner Denver Company until his retirement in 1990.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean; a daughter, Edie Louise Perry Buchanan (Connor) of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Finnegan Scott Buchanan and Liam Connor Buchanan; a brother, William "Bill" Perry of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Perry; a sister, Patricia Powers; a brother in law, Harold Powers; and two sisters in law, Patsy Perry and Wanda Perry.
Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 11:15 in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Marlin Rempfer.
Visitation will be Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
