JAYNE A. FENTEM
Jayne Ann Fentem, 59, of Quincy, died at 9:10 a.m. Monday (March 30, 2015) at Blessing Hospital, a victim of cancer.
Born October 12, 1955 in Morris, Illinois, Jayne was the daughter of Richard Godfrey Jones and Ada Metz Jones. She graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University in 1977 with a B.A. in English. After graduating, she taught freshman and junior high English near London Mills, Illinois.
Jayne married Thomas H. Fentem on December 27, 1980, and soon after, the two moved to Quincy Illinois. For the next 30 years, she worked in the outreach department at the Quincy Public Library, delivering books to readers with special needs.
A strong, practical person, Jayne devoted most of her free time to cultivating her backyard garden. She was especially fond of two roses, named Sarah and Claire, after her two twin daughters. She was an active member of the Quincy Herb Guild and Quincy Preserves. She was a lover of the English language and had faithfully attended the Shakespeare Festival in St. Louis every year since it began in 2001.
Jayne is survived by her husband, Tom of Quincy; her two daughters, Claire Click and her husband, Caleb of Quincy and Sarah Fentem of Bloomington, IN.; her brother, Jeffrey Jones and his husband, Marc Chewakin of Oswego, IL; her son-in-law, Caleb Click of Quincy; and her father- and mother-in-law, Arlin and Virginia Fentem of Macomb, IL
Jayne was proceeded in death by her parents; and her twin sister, Joyce Gleason.
The family will meet with friends to celebrate Jayne's life on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
