JENNY L. GUSTISON
Mrs. Jenny L. Gustison, 90, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2028 Van Buren, Quincy died at 12:00 p.m. Monday (April 1, 2013) in the Good Samaritan Home.
Born March 29, 1923 in Quincy, Jenny was the daughter of Lawrence Otto and Florence Holt Tenk. She married Herbert W. Gustison on June 2, 1945 in Hannibal, Missouri. He survives.
Jenny was a longtime member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, Alpha Chapter 109 Order of Eastern Star where she served as Past Worthy Matron, White Shrine of Jerusalem where she was a Past Worthy High Priestess, South Side Boat Club Ladies Aid and served on the Good Samaritan Home Board of Directors for many years.
A 1941 graduate of Quincy High School, Mrs. Gustison was employed at Illinois Bell Telephone Company for 40 years until her retirement. Following her retirement, Jenny sold real estate in Quincy for several years.
Survivors include her husband, Herb; a son, Steven Gustison (Lynn) of Fairfield, IL; a daughter, Kathleen Schlueter (Gerald) of Maple Grove, MN; four grandchildren, Trenton Schlueter (Kelle) of Quincy, Shannon Payne (Joe) of Coon Rapids, MN, Steven Gustison Jr. (Jessica) of Elk Grove, CA and Brian Gustison (Heather) of Quincy; nine great grandchildren, Brady, Logan, Brendle, Nathan, Kason, Colin, Lannis, Rinley and Brooklynn; three sisters, Shirley Sieb of Edwardsville, IL, Mary Sundeen of Chatham, IL and Judy Alcorn (Dale) of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gustison was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, L. O. Tenk, Theodore "Tedo" Tenk, Dale Tenk and a brother in infancy; two sisters, Geraldine Weedman and Marguerite Allain; three sisters in law, Arlene Tenk, Joan Tenk and Julia Tenk; and four brothers in law, John Weedman, Bill Allain, Bill Sieb and Hank Sundeen.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Timothy White. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. Alpha Chapter O.E.S. will conduct services Thursday evening at 6:30 at the funeral home.
