   Mr. John Thomas Salsman, 70, of Quincy died at 9:44 a.m. Sunday (April 20, 2014) in his home after his battle with Leukemia.

   Born June 22, 1943 in Hannibal, Missouri he was the son of Paul Truman Salsman and Louise White Salsman Copeland.John was nurtured by his grandmother Lucinda White and raised in the home of his step father Kenneth Copeland and  his Mother Louise.  He first married  Sue Armentrout in Palmyra, MO and  later married Wanda  Hamann on July 12, 1997 in Quincy.  She Survives.

   He was a 1961 graduate of Slater Missouri High School.John was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, gardening, working outdoors, walking and mushroom hunting. He especially loved spending time and visiting with his friends and favorite bartender Kim at the VFW Club at 6th and Payson.

   He was first employed as a mechanic and later as a service manager at Hadler International for 46 years until his retirement in 2003.

   Survivors include his wife, Wanda; three sons, John Thomas Salsman II of Eau Claire, WI, Kenny E. Salsman (Amanda) of St. Claire, MO and Andrew M. Salsman (Trish) of Palmyra, MO; six grandchildren, Hailey Mortimer of Keokuk, IA, Errick Salsman of Quincy, Breanna Salsman of Palmyra, MO. Carman Gerard of Palmyra, MO,Gavin Salsman of St. Clair, MO and Kaitlyn Salsman of St. Clair, MO; four step grandchildren, Jayden Roman of St. Clair, MO, Angel Thordsen and Beth Thordsen both of Hannibal, MO, and Nikki Thordsen of Palmyra, MO; Aunts and Uncles, Emmy White of Philadelphia, PA, Maggie White of Center, MO, Lucille White and Margaret White both of Palmyra Mo, Harry White of Quincy, Wayne White of LaGrange, MO, Paul and Betty White of Palmyra; a sister-in-law, Carrol Salsman of Hannibal, MO and one niece, Tyia Yowell (Jeff)  of Hannibal, MO. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family.

   He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Wayne Salsman.

   Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Kramer officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
