Judith Ann Kerfoot

April 16, 1944 ~ June 4, 2018 (age 74)

 

JUDITH  A.  KERFOOT

   Judith Ann Kerfoot, 74, of Quincy, passed away at 7:38 p.m. Monday (June 4, 2018) in her home.

   Born April 16, 1944 in Quincy, Judy was the daughter of Leonard George and Roberta Maurice Lile Kerfoot.  She shared her life with her partner, Marjorie K. Spilker for 27 years and were united in a Civil Union on June 11, 2011.  Marjorie survives.

   Judy loved showing her Chinese Shar Pei dogs in dog shows over the years. She recently had a show Champion with "Pumba" at the Quincy Kennel Club show in Springfield, Illinois.  She enjoyed woodworking and remodeling and renovating their home.

   A graduate of Quincy High School, Judy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville.  Judy's passion in life was teaching. She taught History and Government at QuincyJunior High School and Quincy High School during her 40 year career.  Following her retirement, she was a substitute teacher for several years. Judy was honored multiple times by being named Who's Who of American Teachers.

   Surviving is her partner, Marjorie; three sisters, Linda Cosgrove of Keokuk, IA; Nancy Carter of Quincy and Jane Kerfoot Ganz (Robert H. "Bo") of Longmont, CA;  a sister in law,  Pearl Ann Simpson of Kansas City, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews. 

   Judy was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers in law,  Fred L. "Fritz" Carter, Kenneth Spilker, Robert Spilker and Rollie Simpson; and Marjorie's parents, Harold and Dorothy Spilker.

   Cremation arrangements are in the care of Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

   The family will host a celebration of life on Friday evening (June 15, 2018) from 4:00 to 8:00 at their home at 4234 Harrison Street in Quincy. Friends are invited to attend.

   Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society or a donation may be  left on Judy Kerfoot's Facebook page to help with medical expenses.
