Judith "Judy" Alcorn

December 31, 1937 ~ December 28, 2018 (age 80)

JUDY  ALCORN

   Judith "Judy" Alcorn, 80, of Quincy, passed away at 8:31 a.m. Friday (December 28, 2018) in her home surrounded by her family.

   Born December 31, 1937 in Quincy, Judy was the daughter of Lawrence O. and Florence E. Holt Tenk. She married Virgil Dale Alcorn on October 23, 1965 in Quincy.  He preceded her in death on February 3, 2016.

   Judy was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, South Side Boat Club, Alpha Chapter 109 Order of Eastern Star where she was a Past Worthy Matron and was a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls.  She was an avid bowler and golfer, enjoyed being outdoors tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and loved the many fishing trips she made to Minnesota over the years. Judy was a wonderful wife and mother devoted to her family and cherished the time she spent with  them.

   Judy was a 1956 graduate of Quincy High School and attended Gem City Business College. She began her career in the offices at Moorman Manufacturing Company and later for Gardner Denver Company.  She was also the co/owner and worked in the offices at Royal Oaks Mobile Home Park.  Following retirement, she was a real estate agent with Leo Zanger Realty.

    Survivors include two daughters, Christina Alcorn of Collingswood, N.J. and Jennifer Alcorn of Springfield, MO; a granddaughter, Caitlin Alcorn of Quincy; a great grandson, Tyler Myers of Quincy; two sisters, Shirley Seib of Edwardsville, IL and Mary Sundeen of Chatham, IL; a sister in-law Donna Tenk of Ottawa, KS; two brothers in law, Herb Gustison of Quincy and Darrell Alcorn; and a special niece, Maggie Classen of Bartonville, IL  and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mrs. Alcorn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Theodore "Tedo" Tenk, Dale Tenk and Lawrence Tenk; three sisters, Jenny Gustison, Geraldine Weedman and Marguerite Allain and four brothers in-law William Seib, Hank Sundeen William Allain and John Weedman and two sisters in-law Joan Tenk and Arlene Tenk.

   Memorial services will be held Saturday (January 5, 2018) morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating.  Inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 and Saturday morning from 10:30 until time of services at the funeral home.  Eastern Star services will be conducted Friday evening at 6:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. 

   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
