JULIE A. GOEHL
On Saturday, November 23, 2013, the Lord called home a terrific wife, adored mother and beloved grandmother and great grandmother, Julie A. Goehl of Quincy.
Born August 1, 1947 in Quincy, Julie was the daughter of William Franklin "Frank" and Mary Margaret Robinson McMullen. She married Lawrence "Larry" Goehl Sr. on March 17, 1962 in Quincy. He survives.
Julie enjoyed traveling, camping, crocheting and had bowled for many years in various leagues. She was an active supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness and the Cancer Center and she had a passion for communicating with the deaf, learning sign language at an early age and signing for Bible Baptist Church for many years. Julie's greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she cherished the time she spent with them.
Julie had been employed at Motorola and Quincy Paper Box before going to Pace Industries where she worked until her retirement. Julie was also a bookkeeper in her husband's business, Rome's Auto Spring Repair for 30 years.
Survivors include her husband, Larry; six children, Lee Goehl (Patty) of Quincy, Todd Goehl (Kathy) of Quincy, Joe Goehl (Shelly) of Quincy, Cari Mixer (Rusty) of Golden, IL, Cheryl Smith (Jeff) of Mt. Sterling, IL and Steven Goehl (Jeremy Apodaca) of Watseka, IL; sixteen granchildren, Christopher Goehl, Nathaniel Goehl, Victoria Goehl, John Goehl, Joel Goehl, Tyler Goehl, Taylor Goehl, Jessica Goehl, Donovan Goehl, Caleb Mixer, Colton Mixer, Christian Smith, Rachel Nichols, Stephanie Eskew, Kelsey Eskew and Devin Eskew; six great grandchildren, Raelynn Goehl, Brayson Goehl, Kaleya Rodgers, Mario Rodgers, Quentin Booker and Makenzie Talbott; three step grandchildren, Amy Barqs (Justin), Jayson Reynolds and Elisha Bechthold (Mike); four sisters, Sandra Kroeger (Ed) of Ewing, MO, Jeanette Mock (Ronald) of Quincy, Jean Clow (Robert) of Taylor, MO and Mary Jo Smith (Homer) of LaPlata, MO; a sister in law, Patty Grimes (Larry) of Quincy; two brothers in law, Jerome "Jerry" Goehl (Rosalita) and Thomas Goehl (Loretta) both of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Goehl was preceded in death by her mother, Mary; and her father in law and mother in law, Jerome and Mary Goehl.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Quincy.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center or the Illinois Veteran's Home Activity Fund.
