K. ELIZABETH LINNENBURGER
Elizabeth Linnenburger, 96 of the Good Samaritan Home died at 3:15 am Friday (August 31, 2012) in the home.
Born July 25, 1916 in Mendon, Illinois, Elizabeth was the daughter of James H. and Myrtle Dittmer Tieken. She married Raymond W. Linnenburger on August 19, 1936 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1992.
Elizabeth was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. She was a 1933 graduate of Mendon High School. Elizabeth was a great cook and enjoyed gardening and canning. Most of all she loved being a homemaker who was devoted to her family. She was "Grandma" to all the children she babysat and enjoyed teaching her children how to cook, sew and develop good work habits.
Elizabeth was employed as a nurses aid at Blessing Hospital for 12 years and then baby sat for 25 years. She was an accomplished seamstress who sewed for her family and friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Vogel of Quincy, Janet Syrcle (Ron) of Dallas TX and Ruth Betz of Fowler, IL; one son David Linnenburger (Sandy) of Canton, MO; twelve grandchildren, Julie Simons (Scott), Joyce Vogel, Carl Vogel (Amanda), Jeanette Huebotter (Mark) and Mark Betz (Sara) all of Quincy, Dan Syrcle (Tamee) of Wichita, KS, Diane Syrcle (Partner, Susan Leo) of Portland, OR, Davene Gaddy (Dennis) of Rolla, MO, Tonya Linnenburger of Jerome, MO, Stephanie Gray (Pat) of Lewistown, MO, Stephen Linnenburger of Ewing, MO and Christopher Betz of East Peoria, IL; nineteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; one brother James Tieken of Peoria, IL and one sister Mary Hesse (Paul) of Quincy and several loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Linnenburger was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters Doris Landis and Wilma Scott, one brother Lloyd Tieken; two son in laws, Carl Vogel and Eugene Betz.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Damrow officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
