Larry Lee Howard

   Mr. Larry Lee Howard, 70, of Mendon died at 1:05 p.m. Monday (May 26, 2014) in North Adams Home.

   Born February 16, 1944 in Quincy, he was the son of Ira T. and Gwendolyn A. Banks Howard. He married Karen Acker on June 20, 1965 in Trinity Methodist Church in Warsaw, Illinois. She preceded him in death on August 18, 1980.

   Larry was a 1962 graduate of Bowen High School. He enjoyed pizza parties, bingo, gardening, a cold beverage and a small confectionery treat. He was an honorary member of the KHQA 7th of the Month Buddy Club at North Adams Home. He especially loved going to tractor pulls.

   Mr. Howard was employed at Electric Wheel Division of Firestone for 20 years. He later worked as a farm hand for area farmer and at the West Point Elevator and retired from the Lewis Seed Company.

   Survivors include his children, Carol Curtis (Jack) of Taylor, MO, Kathie Palmer of Ursa, Thomas Howard (Janis) of Carthage and Cindy Robertson (Christopher) of Iwakuni Ymaguchi, Japan; seven grandchildren, J.C. Curtis, Brittney Palmer, Abbygail Palmer, Christopher Howard, Jennifer Howard, Madison Robertson and Christian Robertson; three great grandchildren, BriAnna Palmer, Addison Palmer and Chandler Palmer; a brother, Gary Howard (Linda) of Liberty and two sisters, Sherry Vrandenburg of Quincy and Janice Wurth (Bob) of Florissant, MO; a mother-in-law, Lois Acker of LaGrange, MO and a sister-in-law, Sue Caldwell (John) of Warsaw, IL. Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Danny Howard; an infant sister, Carole Jean Howard; father-in-law, Marshall Acker and a nephew, Joseph Caldwell.

   Funeral services will be held  10:30 Saturday morning at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Schluckebier officiating. Burial will be West Point Cemetery.

   Visitation will be held 9:30 until time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Larry Lee Howard Memorial Fund.
