   Laura Beth Rokita, 27, of Pittsfield, Illinois, formerly of Quincy, died at 11:42 a.m. Tuesday (September 6, 2016) in her home.

   Born August 27, 1989 in Quincy, Laura was the daughter of Mike and Rita Schoonover Rokita.  She married Joel Stephenson on November 7, 2015 in Quincy.

   Laura was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Quincy. She loved listening to music and going to concerts and enjoyed going horseback riding on her horse, Vegas. Laura's passion was art and she loved drawing and painting. Her dream was to one day open her own art studio and give private art lessons.

   Laura was a 2007 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from Western Illinois University in Macomb.  She was currently employed with the Illinois Rural Electric Co-Op in Winchester where she was known as the "Fiber Girl".

   Survivors include her parents, Mike and Rita Rokita of Quincy; a sister, Lacey Rokita of Quincy; her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Galloway of Quincy; three aunts, Mary Janelle Kellum of Quincy, Michelle Fenton of Quincy and Jenny Kelley (Kent) of Galesburg, IL; four uncles, Robert Rokita (Barb) of Quartz Hill, CA, Richard Rokita (Cathie) of Shelbyville, MI, Floyd Schoonover III of Las Vegas, NV and Greg Schoonover of Casper, WY; and many loving cousins.

   Laura was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Dr. Adam and Mary Rokita; her maternal grandfather, Floyd Schoonover Jr.; her maternal step grandfather, Ed Galloway; and an aunt, Jean Schoonover.

   Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Kuse.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3:00 to 7:00 and Monday morning from 8:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Art Department at Quincy Notre Dame.
