LELA J. DODD
Lela J. Dodd, 78, of Quincy died at 2:28 a.m. Friday (June 7, 2013) in her home.
Born June 24, 1934 in Mendon, Illinois. Lela was the daughter of Curtis W.and Milda V. Reninga Stockhecke. She married Montgomery D. Dodd in 1956 in Quincy. He survives.
Lela was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, country line dancing and was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
She was well known in the Quincy community as a waitress at Elder's Restaurant for 18 years until her retirement. After retiring she sold Avon for 30 years.
Survivors include her husband Montgomery; two daughters Mona Fischer (Dennis) of Quincy, Lori Klauser of Quincy; one son Dennis Dodd of Redwood City, CA; five grandchildren Eric Fischer (Stacy), Erin Fischer,Eben Fischer, Angela Klauser all of Quincy and Sgt. Jason Klauser of Ft.. Stewart, GA; five great grandchildren Austin Fischer, Abigail Fischer, Arianna Fischer, Coby Klauser and Zoey Klauser. Also surviving are two sisters Miss Ellen Stockhecke and Janice Brassfield (Harold) both of Quincy and several loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Martin Eden officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 until 1:30 at the funeral home.
