LEOTA M. BOONE
Leota M. Boone, 95, of the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy and formerly of Plainville, Illinois, passed away at 11:44 a.m. Thursday (December 7, 2017) at Good Samaritan Home.
Born December 26, 1921 in Cresco, Iowa, Leota was the daughter of Bert L. and Lydia C. Perry. Leota accepted Jesus as her savior on December 14, 1930 at a tent revival in Cresco, Iowa. On September 29, 1939, she married Rev. Charles A. Fox in Waterloo, Iowa. Along with Charlie, an ordained Baptist Minister, she served churches in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. Charlie preceded her in death on January 4, 1975. On September 18, 1982, Leota married Leo B. Boone in Plainville, Illinois. She and Leo enjoyed spending their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. Leo preceded her in death on February 21, 1998.
A wonderful mother and cook, Leota enjoyed helping her husbands with gardening and canning fruits and vegetables for most of her life. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially when all could be together, Sunday lunches and afternoon visits in Plainville with family. Leota was active in her church life, helping with Sunday School, Bible Schools, Women's Missionary Societies and sing in the Choir.
Leota jobs included being a cook at West Pike High School, Quality Control for Advance Transformer in Wisconsin and a seamstress in men's alterations for State Street Store in Quincy.
Survivors include four children, Ronald Fox (Judith) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Opal Green (Jim) of Wisconsin, JoLeah Epley (Virgil) of Plainville, IL and Paul Fox (Linda) of Janesville, WI; nine grandchildren, Rob Fox (Amanda) of CA, Rick Fox (Naomi) of Canada, Ryan Fox (Jen) of Canada, Jamie Link (Tony) of Colfax, WI, Mike Green (Jami Jo) of MN, Chuck Epley (Ann) of Plainville, IL, Randy Epley (Karen) of Plainville, IL, Paula Fox (Chris Johnston) of Batavia, IL and Kim Fox (Trevor Rowe) of Grand Rapids, MI; nine great grandchildren, Matthew Mueller, Amber Mueller, Kyle Fox, Serena Fox, Maycee Fox, Olivia Fox, Brad Epley, LeAnn Epley and Lane Epley; many loving great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Leota was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Charlie and Leo; eight sisters, Caroline Cleveland, Emma Souhrada, Rosalind Lawrence, Maggie Webster, Peggy Carmen, Lydia Schlitz, Bonnie Baldwin and Dawn Sayre; and three brothers, Jim Perry and two infant brothers, Alfred and Robert Perry.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 in the Town Hall at Good Samaritan Home with Chaplain James Riley officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Town Hall at Good Samaritan Home
Private interment will be held in Stewart Cemetery near Plainville, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the Foose Unit at Good Samaritan Home.
