LEWIS EDGECOMB JR.
Mr. *Lewis Lee Edgecomb Jr., 64, of Quincy, died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday (May 20, 2012) in.Blessing Hospital.
Born March 18, 1948 in Quincy, Lewis was the son of Lewis Lee and Mary Sarah Hayes Edgecomb Sr. He married Sharon Maureen Sheeley on March 3, 1973 in Quincy. She survives.
Lewis was a member of The Crossing and the Machinist Lodge 822. An ordained minister, Lewis served as a volunteer chaplain at Blessing Hospital for many years. An avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman, Lewis enjoyed his fish pond in his backyard, but his greatest love was hunting and fishing with his grandchildren.
Lewis served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Colt Industries as a machinist for 20 years until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; five sons, Kenneth Wiemelt (Helen) of Puyallup, WA, Michael Wiemelt (Kathy) of Quincy, Kevin Wiemelt (Janice) of Liberty, IL, Lewis Edgecomb III of Jefferson City, MO and Robert Lee Edgecomb (Angela) of Quincy; three daughters, Katherine Wiemelt of San Fransisco, CA, Laura Myers (Chuck) of Indianapolis, IN and Stacy Wiemelt of Quincy; nineteen grandchildren, Ryan Wiemelt (Kristi), Katie Wiskirchen (Tom), Samuel Wiemelt, Nick Wiemelt (Amber), Whitney Brock (Justin), Brooke Wiemelt, Megan Wiemelt, Jacob Wiemelt (Elizabeth), Austin Myers, April Myers, Amanda Myers Jessica Edgecomb, Jasmine Edgecomb, Jacob Edgecomb, Kayla Edgecomb, Andrew Edgecomb, Christopher Edgecomb, Alanna Edgecomb and Jacob Baldwin; three great grandchildren, Jettison Wiemelt, Allie Edgecomb and Caleb Wiskirchen; a brother, Timothy Edgecomb of Springfield, IL; three sisters, Mary Ellen Blaesing (Mike) of Quincy, Maxine Bevill (Darrell) of Ewing, MO and Joann Nickelson (John) of South Bend, IN; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Edgecomb was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bill Nierre.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Josh Finklea. Burial with Military Honors by Payson V.F.W. Post 2061 will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
