Lucille "Lou" Flesner, 95, of Quincy died at 8:04 a.m. Sunday (November 20, 2016) in North Adams Home in Mendon.
Born September 10, 1921 in Bowen, Illinois, Lucille was the daughter of Manerd and Hulda Ella Wegner Aden. She was baptized October 2, 1941, by the late Rev.Hugho Dorrow, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden, Illinois. She was confirmed April 21, 1935, by the late Rev. J. R. Westphal. Her confirmation verse was, "Delight thyself in the Lord, And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart". She married Harry J. Flesner on June 14, 1942 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church by the late Rev. J. R. Westphal. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary June 14, 2012. Harry preceded her in death on March 28, 2013.
Lucille was very active in her former church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Golden. When she moved to Quincy she transferred her membership to St. James Lutheran Church. Lucille volunteered at Blessing Hospital and had worked part time at the Briggs Funeral Home in Golden. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith Ann Driscoll (Mike) of St. Louis, MO; three sons, Mark J. Flesner (Becky) of Oskaloosa, IA, John P. Flesner (Lynn) of Loraine, IL and James P. Flesner of St. Louis, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Patrick Driscoll, Kathleen Engelke (Doug), Marshina Gemmell (Andrew), Jessica Libanan (Mark), Dane Flesner (Candice Bick), Hannah Flesner (Adam Dozier), Chris Emmons (Shelly), Andrea Carlson (David), Jamie Bayes (Matt), Darrell Flesner (Jodi), Adam Flesner (Megan), Raymond Cook (LeAnn) and Kellie Cook (Kevin Douglas); 17 great-grandchildren, Abraham Engelke, Jack Engelke, Ella Engelke, Jasmine Stephen, Natlie Stephen, Ellie Bayes, Tyler Bayes, Josie Bayes, Isabella Flesner, Kayden Libanan, Miyah Libanan, MaLaynie Libanan, Kyron Libanan, Liam Flesner, Leah Emmons, Grace Emmons and Amelia Douglas; two sisters, Marjorie Drews of Canton, MO and Joan McHone of Clackamas, OR; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Flesner was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Janet Lou; an infant granddaughter; Michelle Driscoll; a daughter in law, Julie Flesner; a sister, Arlene Meints; and two brothers, Elmer and Manerd Aden.
Cremation rites have been accorded to Lucille. Memorial services will be held Saturday morning (December 3, 2016) at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastors Mike Fieberkorn and Marlin Rempfer officiating. Private burial will take place in Golden Community City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning (December 3, 2016) from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American SIDS Institute or to North Adams Home.
