MABEL L. McCONNELL
Mrs. Mabel L. McConnell, 93, formerly of Quincy, died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday (December 31, 2011) in Ozark, Missouri.
Born March 28, 1918 in Pike County, Illinois, Mabel was the daughter of Guy and Leona Capps Baughman. She married Lindle McConnell on February 6, 1938, in Pittsfield, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2001.
Mabel was a member of Union United Methodist Church and the Ruth Circle at the church. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, spending the winters in Texas and traveling in their motorhome and entertaining friends. Her greatest joy came in spending time with her family, who will fondly remember her as a terrific cook. Her loving kindness will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. McConnell was employed at Quincy Specialties in the mailing department as well as taking care of her family at home.
Survivors include her son, Ruel L. McConnell and his wife Donna of Nixa, MO; two grandchildren, Tamra Cox and her husband William of Normal, IL and Dana Johnson and her husband Jeff of Springfield, IL; five great grandchildren, Emma Wear and her husband Dane, Darcie Cox and her fiance Brian Truttman, Nathan Cox, Allyssa Johnson, and Abbi Johnson; two great great grandchildren, Isaiah and Mikalah Wear; sister-in-laws, Roma Weir of Quincy, IL and Wanda Franklin of Phoenix, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McConnell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister Mattie Lee "Babe"Conkright.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Morwell. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 12:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church or the Quincy Humane Society.
