MANON R. WHITE
Manon R. White, 86, of Quincy died at 8:00 p.m. Monday (May 16, 2016) in Sunset Home.
Born December 28, 1929 in Quincy, Manon was the daughter of Stanley and Mary Grimmer Funk. She married J.C. White on July 28, 1951 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2003.
A 1947 graduate of Quincy High School, Manon continued her education at Quincy College, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She was a member of the Adams County Teachers Union, Faith Presbyterian Church, and loved music, especially Opera. Manon was a voracious reader, especially enjoying murder novels and westerns. She enjoyed going to musical shows, collecting carnival glass, rummaging through thrift stores, dancing, traveling and spending time with her family.
Manon had been employed as a school teacher at the Irving and Berrian Schools in Quincy for over 30 years, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Brett Roan of Quincy, Miranda Werneth (Dan) of Quincy and Alexis Roan of Custer, WI; ten great grandchildren, Nolan Goldberger, Morgan Goldberger, Lauren Goldberger, Jayden Goretski, Ashton Goretski, Camdon Steinkoenig, Logan Steinkoenig, Aiden Meier, Josh Roan and Sierra Roan; and a great great grandson, Alexander Goldberger.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.C.; her son, David White; and her daughter, Jay Anne Roan.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Rod Bakker officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Friday from 11:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
