MARIAN W. BERGSTRASSER
Marian W. Bergstrasser, 91, passed away on Sunday June 24th, 2012 surrounded by her family at Sterling House Assisted Living in Cape Coral FL.

Marian graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1938 at age 17 and went on to nursing school in Peoria, IL. During this time she learned to fly her brother's little "two seater" airplane and went on to earn her pilot*s license. Due to economic hardship she was unable to complete her nursing program and returned to Quincy where she worked as a dental assistant.
Marian married Arnold H Bergstrasser on July 30th, 1944 and they remained happily married for over 61 years until his death on February, 26th 2006. Together they had three children. Her oldest son, David preceded her in death in 2001. Surviving are her son Dennis and wife Pamela of Cape Coral, FL, daughter Linda and husband William of Portland OR. Marian lived a rich life of service to her family and community, from Cub Scout den mother, to PTA president, to holding offices in organizations too numerous to list. Her husband often said "she volunteers for everything" and was civically recognized for her efforts. But it was not all work and no play for Marian as she enjoyed golfing at Spring Lake Country Club, bowling during the winter months, playing Bridge year round and traveling.
In the early 1970s with her children nearly grown, Marian went back to school and earned her LPN license in 1974. She worked for the next 17 years at Sunset Home as the night charge nurse. She chose the night shift so it would not interfere with her daytime activities.
Marian was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Quincy Women's City Club among other organizations. Marian will be remembered for her pleasant nature, helping spirit and inner strength.
