Marian W. Lynch

December 4, 1923 ~ September 24, 2012 (age 88)

   Marian W. Lynch, 88, of Quincy, died at 10:06 p.m. Monday (September 24, 2012) at Bradford Villa, Quincy, Illinois.

   Born December 4, 1923, in Bigneck, Illinois, Marian was the daughter of William H. and Ruth G. (Nelson)  Sanderson. She married Charles R. Lynch on May 11, 1946, in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2004.

   Marian was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was active with the St. Mary's Quilter's Club and enjoyed traveling with her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren and the time she spent with them.

   Marian was employed  by the State of Illinois for many years until her retirement in 1985.

   Survivors include a son, Charles W. Lynch (Georgene) of Iowa City, IA; three daughters, Erin Cherington (Craig) of Quincy, Ruth Ann Lynch of Claremont, CA and Gail Tanner (George Oliver) of O'Fallon, MO; nine grandchildren, Bill Lynch (Jennifer) of Portland, OR, Andrew Lynch (Sarah) of Iowa City, IA, Marianne Lynch and Rebecca Lynch both of Claremont, CA, Kimberly Tanner (Steve Vermillion), Kelsey Tanner O'Connor (David) and Beth Tanner (Brian Leitner) all of Chicago, IL; Caitlyn Cherington (fiance', Charles Long) of Quincy and Colleen Cherington (Chris Salvatori) of St. Louis, MO; eight great grandchildren, Rachel Lynch, Ian Lynch, Ezra Lynch, Jacob Lynch, Avia Lynch, Dahlia Tanner, Jude O'Connor and Milo Sanderson Leitner.

   Marian Lynch was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; and  a sister, Fanny Naught.

   Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 1:00 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Kuse. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Parish Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
