Marie (Beckett) Eaton

MARIE EATON

   Mrs. Marie Eaton, 90, of Franklin Grove, Illinois, formerly of Morton, Illinois, died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday (February 23, 2013) in the Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center.

   Born July 25, 1922 in Shelbina, Missouri, Marie was the daughter of Everett K. and Ruby L. McFarland Beckett. She married R. Ralph Eaton on May 11, 1943 in Quincy. He survives.

   Marie was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Quincy. Later, she was a member of the First  United Methodist Church of Morton, Illinois. She was also a member of the Morton Women's Club and the Art & American Home Club of Morton. Marie enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, traveling and loved working in her gardens.

   A graduate of Quincy High School, Marie had been employed in food service at Morton High School.

   Survivors include her husband, Ralph; a son, Larry Eaton (Janet) of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Nancy Ester (William) of Burlington, WI, and Sally Thomson (James) of Hinckley, IL; eight grandchildren, Paul Ester (Amber), Kevin Ester (Darci), Carolyn Ester, Justin Eaton, Christopher Thomson, Diana Koppang (Timothy), Benjamin Thomson (Jen), and Matthew Dixon; seven great grandchildren, Marin Ester, Reagan Ester, Piper Ester, Kennedy Ester, Drew Berg, Ethan Thomson and Charlotte Thomson; a sister, Virginia Tubbs of Severna Park, MD; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mrs. Eaton was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard Eaton; and two brothers, Finley Beckett and Marion Beckett.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in the Augusta Christian Church, Augusta, Illinois by the Rev. James Thomson.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta.

    Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy and Thursday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the Augusta Christian Church.

   Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Woodlawn Cemetary Association of Augusta, Illinois.
