MARION L. ANDERSON
Marion L. Anderson, 91 of Quincy, died at 2:05 am Friday (September 22, 2017) at the Illinois Veteran's Home.
Born August 12, 1926 in Grandview, Missouri, Marion was the son of Albert and Esther Sharp Anderson.
Marion was a 1944 graduate of Quincy High School. He joined the Navy during WWII and proudly served his country aboard the destroyer USS Semmes.
Upon being discharged from the military, Marion moved to Kansas where he met and married Elizabeth Stratton of Arlington, Kansas in April of 1952. In 1960 the family moved to California where Marion was employed as an inspector at various oil and aerospace companies for 40 years.
Following his retirement in 1992, Marion and Elizabeth enjoyed living in California until they moved to New Mexico in 2007 where they lived until Elizabeth's death in 2014. Marion then moved back to Quincy where he was a resident at the Illinois Veteran's Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Anita Morales (Miguel) of Las Cruces, NM; his sister, Helen Pool of Quincy; a sister-in-law Joye Anderson.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth; his son, George Anderson; his sister, Ruth Botts; two brothers, Robert "Bob" Anderson and George Anderson; and his brother-in -law, Judge J. Ross Pool.
Cremation has been accorded. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date.
