MARY E. TURNER
Mary Emily Turner, 98, of Quincy passed away at 7:00 a.m. Sunday (December 2, 2018) in Sunset Home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Christmas Day in 1919 in Mendon, Mary was the daughter of Elwood and Mary (Cutforth) Clark. She married Paul E. Turner and he preceded her in death on January 23, 2000.
She was a graduate of Mendon High School and the Quincy Beauty Academy. Mary was a woman of strong Christian faith and was a quiet inspiration to all who knew her. She was an avid rose gardener, seamstress and enjoyed using her artistic talents in many creative ways. Other hobbies include Bible study, knitting, crossword puzzles, gospel music and cooking for her family.
Mary was the cherished Mother of Paul Turner (Marilyn) of LaGrange Park, IL, Phylliss Melton-McCartney (Dan) of Quincy, Rev. Thomas Turner (Wilma Jo) of Sullivan, IN, Carol Evans Small of Quincy and Nancy Kline of Quincy. She was the loving Grandmother of Ryan Turner (Alison), Andrea Turner Seifert (Eric), Michael Melton (Stacy), Jill Turner Nesbitt (Doyle), Jason Turner (Renee), Jeremy Turner (Heidi), Sherry Schaffnit (David), Mary Jane Sprinkle (Larry), Jerrod Evans (Beth), Allen Kline and Aaron Kline (Melissa). Also surviving are numerous great and great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son in-laws Clarence Melton, Jerry Evans, Garry Small; a grandson Martin Melton and a brother Marion Clark.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning 11:00 a.m. in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Mary's Son Rev. Thomas Turner officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation will held Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
