MILO F. MECHLING JR.
Mr. Milo F. Mechling Jr., 91, of the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy, formerly of Champaign, Illinois, died at 9:42 p.m. Wednesday (February 8, 2012) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Born May 6, 1920 in Peoria, Illinois, Milo was the son of Milo F. and Betsy Purvine Mechling Sr. He married Amalia Joan Bianco (Molly) on January 27, 1946 in New York City, New York.
Mr. Mechling served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II as a radio operator on a bomber. Milo was an avid supporter of University of Illinois sports programs , voracious reader, enjoyed music. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.
Milo was employed at U. S. Industries in Tuscola, Illinois and then at the Champaign Post Office, and then retired as the boiler room Operator at Chanute Air Force Base.
Survivors include a son, Stephen M. Mechling (Christine) of Champaign, IL; a daughter, Susan E Cain (Richard) of Peoria, AZ; two granddaughters, Kate Mechling and Leigh Anne Mechling both of Champaign, IL.
Mr. Mechling was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, and one son, Stanley Milo.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Meadowbrook Community Church, 1902 South Duncan Road, Champaign, Thursday February 23, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Ron Strack officating.
Cremation rites have been accorded to Mr. Mechling.
