MOLETA PEARL ECHTERNKAMP
Moleta Pearl Echternkamp, 96,of Quincy died at 12:00 a.m. (Sunday April 8, 2018) in North Adams Home in Mendon, Illinois.
Born January 27, 1922 in Rockport, Illinois, Moleta was the daughter of James Alfred and Jane DeMoine Goodwin. She married Willis Humphrey on October 5, 1940. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1956. She married Carl Echternkamp on June 18, 1960 in Quincy. He preceded her in death.
Moleta enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and going to the boat. She was an excellent cook and loved to watch soap operas, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Moleta was employed at Motorola and then at Quincy Speaker until her retirement. Following her retirement, she began babysitting for family, friends and neighbors.
Survivors include her daughter Janie Whitney of Quincy; a son Patrick Humphrey (Vicki) of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Christine Manis (Jack) of Peoria, IL, Deborah Runk (Mike) of Quincy, Carla Kaelber (Dave) of Quincy, Nichole Stinnett (C.J.) of Quincy, Mistina Brunier of Quincy, Catherine Miller (Phil) of Payson, IL, Jennifer Humphrey of Quincy, Molly Beaver (Matt) of Quincy and Amanda Sanders (Matt) of Bloomington, IL; twenty eight great grandchildren; twenty four great great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Echternkamp was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; a son in-law Carson Whitney; five brothers, Fred Goodwin, Harvey Goodwin, George Goodwin, Irven Goodwin and Charles Goodwin; and four sisters, Mary Crenshaw, Laura Bacon, Hattie Viola Goodwin and Evelena Anders; and an infant great granddaughter, Lillian Faith Brown.
Cremation has been accorded to Moleta. A gathering of family and friends to remember her life will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
